Phillip S. Swartz, born in Robinson, IL received both the bachelor's and Master's Degrees from Eastern Illinois University. He majored in Social Science and minored in Art. Post-Graduate study was taken in the field of History at Miami University in Ohio. The artist taught for thirteen years in Ohio at Sinclair Community College in Dayton and at the Hamilton Campus of Miami University before returning to Illinois in 1983. The artist worked in the acrylic media, reverse on glass, (verre eglomise) and on canvas. Swartz taught at Lincoln Trail College in Robinson, IL until his death in 1991.

Phil's work has been made available by the generous permission of his sister, Leora Vallender, and profits from the sale of these prints will benefit the Palestine Art Center.
